Carrington Legal Placement was founded by Carrie Smith Trabue, Esq. Carrie was previously
at Major, Lindsey & Africa, the world's largest legal search firm, where she
was a top producer and served as Head of the In-House Practice Group for Texas.
Carrie has managed searches on behalf of legal departments across the country. She
has experience managing searches for General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, Chief
Intellectual Property Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Executive level (SVP,
VP, AVP, Director) positions in the areas of Securities law, Compliance, Litigation,
EMEA, Latin America, Banking, E-Commerce & Marketing, Property & Casualty
Insurance and many others.
She has conducted searches on behalf of Fortune 500 companies in the Technology,
Financial Services, Consumer Products, Forest Products, Transportation, Distribution,
Pharma, Telecommunications, Home Building and Defense Industry sectors.
In addition to the wealth of her experience handling in-house searches, Carrie has
completed partner searches on behalf of AMLAW 100 law firms and placed numerous
associates in law firms.
Carrie has been active in the Texas legal market for fifteen years. She practiced
as a litigator for seven years and has worked as a legal recruiter for nearly eight
years. She was a member of the Austin Bar Association Board of Directors from 2001
to 2003 and the Austin Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors from 1996 to
2000. While serving as a Director for the Austin Bar Association, Carrie was instrumental
in bringing the Austin in-house legal community together by forming the Corporate
Counsel section of the Bar, whose leadership eventually led to the formation of
the Austin Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Carrie lived in the Seattle area during her youth and attended Washington State
University before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. She received
her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas in 1989. She received
her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Tulane Law School in 1993, where she served as
an Associate Editor of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal. In addition to her
bar activities, Carrie has been involved with the Junior League of Austin, Delta
Delta Delta alumni activities and helping with various fundraising projects for
charities. Carrie is a voracious reader and an active participant in a local book
group. She enjoys 'reviewing' the latest restaurants and traveling with her family
and friends. Carrie is the proud mother of two boys.
